Raccoons
About Raccoons
Raccoons are omnivorous, i.e. that eat both plant and animal foods. Raccoons are nocturnal and can cause damage to crops, especially sweet corn. They can damage and become a nuisance around houses and building structures. Raccoons can be found in uncapped chimneys and may tear off siding or shingles in order to enter an attic or wallspace. Raccoons have the ability to open the lids of garbage containers in order to forage for food. Concern should be taken around raccoons. Although ‘cute’, they are wild animals and should be treated as such. Sick and injured animals should be left alone and a professional exterminator in New Jersey should be called immediately.
